Does your life feel like a game of whack-a-mole?

How to expect the unexpected?

Create a list of all the things that may come up and create a strategy.

Circumstances are not the problem; what we make it mean it is.

What are the unexpected things that you can plan for?

Those are just unexpected if you were not planning for it to happen ahead of time.

When you plan your day or week, you can already include the "unexpected" items on your list.

If you do that, you won't be caught by surprise. You will already have a plan for it.

One of the problems is the expectations and tying our feelings to them.

The problem is not the circumstance; it is what you are making it mean.

You are making it mean that it shouldn't happen. Why does it always happen to me?

You put yourself in the victim role. Emotions like a victim, powerless, hopeless, and trapped, feel terrible.

I have good news; you don't have to feel any of that anymore. You get to choose how you want to feel.

Next time:

  • Plan for the "unexpected."

  • Have a strategy.

  • Choose what to think on purpose.

  • Your thoughts create your feelings.

  • Your feelings fuel your actions.

We want to think intentionally.

Now, of course, unexpected and unplanned things will still come up once in a while but remember, you can control what you want to think about that.

Do you need help to figure out how to expect the unexpected?
